Puritan Wisdom and Sin
Here are two quotes from the great Puritan preacher and teacher, John Owen.
The mortification of indwelling sin remaining in our mortal bodies, that it may not have life and power to bring forth the works or deeds of the flesh is the constant duty of believers.
The vigour, and power, and comfort of our spiritual life depends on the mortification of the deeds of the flesh.

The book that this quote is from and that I am reading is Of The Mortification of Sin in the Believer. It is an exposition on Romans 8:13

No problem with this quote. Many Word teachers today teach that the Christian’s body is just an earth-suit. Many of the old-timers had it right when they taught that, while being born-again, the Christian still must deal with sin operating in the flesh. One good reference is Romans 7 and 8.
