Wow, theotica, thanks.

I have argued before (though for some reason left it out here) that the woman was the apex of the created order based on being created last. Though, I had never put it in the kind of context you did. Excellent thoughts.

Good job on the singular pronoun. For all my research, I cannot say that I noticed that.

Also, good job demonstrating how male domination becomes a major player directly after the fall in Cain and Abel.

And yeah, that's one of the starting places with Ephesians 5.

Cheers.

great job.

on your point 5. man is called on to answer for his part. you is singular. God asks, "who told you, Adam, that you, Adam, were naked?" Adam is not being asked to account for Eve.

something i propose you missed... the creation account in gen 1 proceeds in increasing orders of sophistication. from the world, through animals, to humanity. following the natural flow of the text, this makes eve THE most sophisticated. authority flows backwards, the more sophisticated having governance over the less so. again, eve ends up, according to the flow of the text, in authority over adam. (i am not making this argument. i'm just bolstering the argument that gender hierarchy is NOT part of created order.)

also... the results of male domination after the fall are swift. the murder of abel and the polygamy of Lamech following in short order. this demonstrates the violence is inherent in domination. there is NO gentile patriarchy.

another thing to keep in mind... the new covenant marks a shift from the congregation of the family to the congregation of the saints. in other words, as christians, our primary relationship is with our brothers and sisters. The family is to take its shape from the church and not the other way round. this may give you a start in eph 5, remembering that "one-anothering" is the basic relationship in the church and paul is now applying it to families.

Really great work there. I don't know if there is anything I could really add. I look forward to the responses, hopefully some fruitful conversation will come about from this.
