1. What translation of the Bible do you like best?
NIV, Message, and sometimes the KKV (King Kleeman Version)

2. Old or New Testament?
Well, I live under the New Covenant, but it all is tied together.

3. Favorite Book of the Bible?
Philippians and Proverbs

4. Favorite Chapter?
Philippians 2

5. Favorite Verse?

Samson--don't mess with me

7. One thing from the Bible that confuses you?
I was thought it odd that the disciples spent three years with Jesus, but never fully grasped what was taking place.

8. Moses or Paul?
Moses has better stories (burning bush, red sea, manna).

Paul had better theology.

9. A teaching from the Bible that you struggle with or don’t get?

Grace is beyond the LAW. The depth of God's grace truly is beyond our understanding. We thirst for having a law (do's and don't). But his grace gives us freedom from the chains of the LAW.

10. Coolest name in the Bible?
If you know Hebrew then Travis is right...Melchizedek is an awesome name(all the names that describe Jesus have awesome meanings).

But I would rather had been named one of these four...King Sennacherib, King Tiglath-Pileser, King Shalmaneser, or Maher-shalal-hash-baz (Isa.8--literal interpretation of the Messianic prophecy--a boy of that time period).

1. What translation of the Bible do you like best?
For formal equivalence: NASB
For dynamic equivalence: NIV

2. Old or New Testament?
This one is really not fair. Since there is a good chance that I might be a New Testament scholar I would go with that. But the OT has Job and Ecclesiastics.

3. Favorite Book of the Bible?
Romans and the Gospel of John.

4. Favorite Chapter?
John 17

5. Favorite Verse?
Romans 7:14-15

6. Bible character you think you’re most like?
St. Peter in chapter 6 of John. After hearing a hard teaching of Jesus, there is still no where to go.

7. One thing from the Bible that confuses you?
Sampson kills hundreds of men with the jaw-bone of an ass. Yeah...

8. Moses or Paul?
Paul wrote Romans, so Paul.

9. A teaching from the Bible that you struggle with or don’t get?
Hebrews 6:4-8. Everwhere else in the Bible, the absolute security of salvation is taught, except these verses. I know there is an answer to this, but I have yet to find it.

10. Coolest name in the Bible?
It ends and begins with Mechelzidek.

1. What translation of the Bible do you like best?
Personally I like to read the NET but I preach out of the ESV because of the fact that most people I come into contact with are familiar with the KJV language (and all the men pisseth against the wall--hehe).

2. Old or New Testament?
New Testament, though I agree with 'ham, the prophets are soooo much fun.

3. Favorite Book of the Bible?
Definitely the Gospel according to Mark or Jeremiah--none of the prophets were as open with God in their recorded works.

4. Favorite Chapter?
Jeremiah 7 and the Temple sermon; I well up into tears every time I read that chapter because its so convicting.

5. Favorite Verse?
2 Corinthians 4:5-6.

6. Bible character you think you’re most like?
Jonah and Job; the guys who argued with God and then got told by God.

7. One thing from the Bible that confuses you?
Apocalyptic literature--my head hurts still.

8. Moses or Paul?
Paul.

9. A teaching from the Bible that you struggle with or don’t get?
The role of a Christian in a democratic and republican governments. Kinda of feeds off of 'Ham and the "sword" in Luke 22 but also other areas that aren't as clear as I'd like them to be.

10. Coolest name in the Bible?
I go back and forth between Melchizedek, Habbakuk, and Rabshakeh. Who wouldn't want to name their sons with these names?

1. What translation of the Bible do you like best?
I generally use the NRSV, I've become a pretty big fan over the last couple years.

2. Old or New Testament?
Well, I'm getting a degree focused on the NT, so I should say that. But, I love the narratives and the prophets of the Hebrew Bible. I do spend much more of my time in the NT.

3. Favorite Book of the Bible?
Right now probably the Gospel of Mark.

4. Favorite Chapter?
I've spent the last few weeks focused on Genesis 1, and I must admit there's a whole lot more there to love than I had ever realized. That's my favorite of the moment.

5. Favorite Verse?
Psalm 118:5 in the NIV.

6. Bible character you think you’re most like?
Probably Jeremiah right now. I often feel burdened and out of place in my surroundings as of late...

7. One thing from the Bible that confuses you?
The tower of Babel. Seriously...wtf?

8. Moses or Paul?
Hmmmmm...That's a tough one considering how different the two are. I'd say Moses is a far more interesting and compelling character in a much more dynamic story. That said, without Paul we really don't get Christianity. I must admit I'm kind of partial to the Moses in Freud's "Moses and Monotheism." ;)

9. A teaching from the Bible that you struggle with or don’t get?
Jesus' order to his disciples to buy a sword In Luke 22. It kind of contradicts everything else he ever taught, and even he seems to realize it when his disciples actually use their swords. It's a teaching that just doesn't make sense to me because of it's utter contradiction to everything else in the gospel. Hopefully I'll come to some sort of an understanding in the paper I'm going to write on it in the next month.

10. Coolest name in the Bible?
While the name is omitted, I really want to name a daughter Salome (pronounced sal-oh-may, which is Hebrew/Aramaic for "peace"). Salome Alexandra was the only Queen of Judea in all of history (76-67 BCE). The name is omitted in the Bible as the name of Herodias's daughter who played such a decisive role in the death of John the Baptist. She's in the Bible...just not named.

1. What translation of the Bible do you like best?
ESV, with the occasional KJV throwback.

2. Old or New Testament?
Old. The new has Jesus, but then so does the Old if you read it right - and you get David and Goliath thrown in for free!

3. Favorite Book of the Bible?
So far it's a tie between Genesis and Job.

4. Favorite Chapter?
Genesis 32

5. Favorite Verse?
Genesis 32:28

6. Bible character you think you’re most like?
Job (except for the righteousness part, and the suffering)

7. One thing from the Bible that confuses you?
The Genocide.

8. Moses or Paul?
I'd rather be under Paul's authority for day to day stuff, but when the s*** hits the fan, I'd want Moses watching my back.

9. A teaching from the Bible that you struggle with or don’t get?
The cavalier treatment of treachery in the Old Testament.
